UW-Parkside’s Christine Holthus was named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in the Rangers’ initial week of the 2010 softball campaign.
Holthus set the table for the Rangers’ offense in three victories last week. She finished the week hitting .500 with five runs and a double with a pair of stolen bases. That included a 2-4 effort in UW-Parkside’s 9-1 win over top-ranked Alabama-Huntsville in Saturday's second game of a doubleheader.
She doubled against Alabama-Huntsville in the opener, and, in the Rangers’ sweep at North Alabama on Sunday, Holthus was 5-8 with three runs scored and a another two-bagger.
UW-Parkside (3-1) will next travel to the Rebel Games in Kissimmee, Florida, starting Thursday, March 11. The home opener is scheduled for Saturday, March 20, against Rockhurst (weather and field conditions permitting).
