Amanda Miller steps into the box

UW-Parkside outfielder Amanda Miller has been selected to the 2008 Daktronics All-Great Lakes Region softball team as voted upon by the region's Sports Information Directors.

Players from 18 different schools were recognized. Missouri S&T's senior third baseman Kelsey Musselman was picked as the region's Player of the year and SIU Edwardsville's Kaitlin Colosimo was chosen as the region's Pitcher of the Year.

Miller led the Great Lakes Valley Conference in hitting with a .434 batting average. She also paced the circuit in doubles with 20 and was fourth in the league in on-base percentage at .459. She knocked two out of the park and legged out a pair of triples.

The junior from Hartland, Wisconsin, started 43 of the 50 games the Rangers played. She had a slugging percentage of .643 and struck out only seven times in 143 at bats.
