(Oct. 11, 2014)-- Amanda Zittleman led the way as the University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's cross country team turned in a sixth place showing at the 20-team Lucian Rosa Invitational on Saturday at the Dannehl National Cross Country Course.
Zittleman zipped around the 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes, 35.1 seconds to pace the Rangers, finishing 19th overall.
Lindsay Rogers was the next member of the Green and White to cross the line, securing a 33rd place finish in 18:55.7.
Haley Thorpe placed 43rd in 19:04.9 while
Kelsey Steenstrup was two spots back in 45th, traversing the course in 19:07.5.
Moriah Palmer rounded out the scoring five, placing 53rd (19;19.0).
Sam Montalbano was 64th (19:28.3) while
Elsie Rehberg (19:53.1) and
Haley Willis (19:53.7) finished back-to-back in 92nd and 93rd, respectively.
The Rangers accrued 187 points in the team standings to place sixth overall, finishing 13 points ahead of Wheaton College. Northern Michigan University won the meet, scoring 58 points with Saginaw Valley State University collecting the runner-up finish with 71 points. Wayne State University rounded out the top three, scoring 103 points.
Saginaw Valley State University's Emily Short secured top individual honors, winning the 271-athlete race in 17:41.5.
UW-Parkside returns to action next Saturday, competing at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational.
