Kyohei Makita,
Max Widmar and
Nate Stolte were each named to the Great Lakes Valley All-Conference Eastern Division team as voted upon by the league head coaches and announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Makita and Widmar were named First Team All-GLVC Eastern Division, while Stolte was named to the second team.
The three players named to the all-conference team were the most for the Rangers since the 2005 squad had seven players named to the all-league team.
Makita earned his second consecutive First Team All-GLVC Eastern Division honor as the designated hitter after also being named in 2016. The senior currently leads the GLVC with a .403 batting average and also tops the conference with a .482 on-base percentage. Makita finished the season with 13 doubles, 31 RBIs and topped the team with four homers.
Makita, who is currently 45
th in the nation in batting average, had 18 multiple-hit games, posted a season-best 13-game hitting streak and ended the year by reaching base in 20 consecutive games. He was named the GLVC Player of the Week on Feb. 13.
Widmar was also named First Team All-GLVC Eastern Division after transferring to the Rangers from Iowa Central Community College. He was second on the team with a .359 batting average and also had a 1-1 record with a 5.84 earned run average and three saves on the mound.
Widmar, who earned his first-team honors at the utility position, was named the GLVC Pitcher of the Week on March 6 after he pitched six scoreless innings in relief as the Rangers rallied to defeat Truman State.
He finished the season with nine doubles, a triple, a homer and 28 RBIs. He posted a .416 on-base percentage and had only one error on the year and had a .993 fielding percentage.
Stolte had a breakout season on the mound for the Rangers as he had a 3-1 record and a 1.72 earned run average. He currently is ranked 16
th in the nation in ERA and leads the GLVC.
The sophomore notched two shutouts, posted a WHIP of 1.23 and allowed just 39 hits in 47 innings pitched on the season. He was named the GLVC Pitcher of the Week on April 3.
Wisconsin-Parkside senior
Jake Kolasinski was the Rangers recipient of the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award. He batted .306 on the season and led the Rangers with 16 doubles and 36 RBIs. He also had two RBIs in the Rangers regular season finale against Bellarmine, which gave him 101 in his storied career and tied him for fifth place in the Wisconsin-Parkside career record book.
The Rangers finished the season with an 18-22 overall record and a 12-14 mark in the GLVC, which was its most wins in six seasons.
Ryan Colombo of Drury was named the GLVC Player of the Year, while Lucas Barnett of Southern Indiana was named the Pitcher of the Year. Matt Knickerbocker of Missouri S&T was selected as the Freshman of the Year, while Rick O'Dette of Saint Joseph's was named the Coach of the Year.
Joining Makita and Widmar on the First Team All-GLVC Eastern Division squad was Eddie Mathis, Brady Pfaadt and Hunter Spencer of Bellarmine, Trey Hannam, Michael Rothmund and Cole Taylor of Illinois Springfield, Kyle Orloff and Dylan Stutsman of Indianapolis, Brandon Collins of Lewis, Josh Handzik of Saint Joseph's, Barnett, Jake Fleming, Kyle Griffin and Drake McNamara of Southern Indiana.
The second team was comprised of Drew Greenwood, Griffin Neuer, Alex Phillips and Zac Wiley of Bellarmine, Adam Gregory, Myles Hann, Ethan Howard and Austen Muench of Illinois Springfield, Storm Joop of Indianapolis, Connor Rutherford of Lewis, Riley Benner and Tasker Strobel of Saint Joseph's, Logan Brown, Sam Griggs and Justin Watts of Southern Indiana.
