Moriah Palmer was honored on Thursday as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Track Runner of the Week.

The sophomore hit the provisional standard for the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships at the season-opening Private College Invitational on Saturday at Carthage College, besting the 26-competitor field in the 800-meter run. The Machnesney Park, Illinois, native shaved nearly four seconds off her previous best time in the indoor 800, stopping the clock in two minutes, 16.94 seconds, to win the event. Her time currently stands as the sixth fastest time in Division II this season.

Palmer's performance powered the Rangers to a third place finish at the meet, scoring 65.5 points, while becoming the first UW-Parkside runner to claim GLVC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week accolades sinceÂ

Parkside is back in action this Saturday, competing at the Greyhound Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana.
