NAPERVILLE, Ill. (May 10, 2013)-- Jesus Escareno hit the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday night as select individuals of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside track & field squads competed at the Dr. Keeler Last Chance Invitational hosted by North Central College.
Escareno finished fifth among the 44-man field in the steeplechase, crossing the tape in a season best time of nine minutes, 11.35 seconds. His time landed him a spot on the provisional qualifier list where he owns the 22nd fastest time in the event in NCAA Division II.
Dylan Rivard tallied a 51st place showing in the 800-meter run, finishing the two-lap race in 1:58.97.
On the women's side,
Kelsey Steenstrup placed 19th in the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 4:46.98 while Bailey Kerscheiter was 38th in 5:01.29 and
Kayla Sheckles was 55th (5:17.87).
Charlotte Smith was the Rangers' lone entrant in the field events, finishing in a six-way tie for ninth place after clearing 5 feet, 0 1/4 inches in the high jump.
