Slivka Earns All-GLVC Accolades

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Mar. 5, 2013)-- University of Wisconsin-Parkside's Danielle Slivka earned Second Team All-Conference honors while Slivka, Jaleesa Trussell and Sierra West all landed a spot of the All-Defensive Team as the Great Lakes Valley Conference released its women's basketball postseason award winners on Tuesday.

Slivka tallies her first career All-GLVC award and All-Defensive Team honor after leading the Rangers (19-8, 12-6 GLVC) in rebounding (7.5 rpg) while finishing third on the team in scoring, averaging 8.9 points per game. The junior forward finished in double figures on 11 occasions while collecting five double-doubles. All five of the Johnsburg, Ill. product's double-doubles came during GLVC play, including a 20 point, 10 rebound effort against Lewis University on Feb. 28.

Trussell lands a spot on the GLVC's All-Defensive Team for the second consecutive season. The senior guard was a valuable asset to the Rangers defense that led the league in scoring defense, yielding just 55.7 points per game while leading the league in rebounding defense (29.9 rpg) and ranking third in rebounding margin (+5.1). Trussell was third on the team in steals with 41 while averaging 4.5 rpg and adding 8.1 ppg on the offensive end.

West joins Trussel and Slivka on the All-Defensive Team, earning a spot on the 14-player squad for the first time in her career. The senior Guard was second on the team in steals with 42 on the year while finishing second on the team in blocks with 10. The Hartford, Wis. product leads the league in minutes played; averaging 36.7 minutes a game, helping the Rangers' defense lead the GLVC in scoring defense. West additionally was a threat on offense, leading the league in assists per game (5.9) while averaging 9.3 ppg.

The Rangers return to action on Friday night, squaring off against Quincy University at 8:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the Deaconess GLVC Tournament held at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ill.
