The UW-Parkside track & field team will have three athletes competing at the 2012 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships next weekend in Pueblo, Colo.
Jessica Watychowicz has qualified in two events while
Hope Christie and
Ben Orvold will each run in one.
Watychowicz, the 2012 GLVC Champion in the 5000m run, qualified in 5000m run and the 1500m run. She'll take the 16th-best seed time (16:44.31) into the 19 competitor field in the 5000. She is the only GLVC competitor in the field. She is 17th on the 1500m list with her time of 4:30.67.
Christie will join her in the 1500m run and is seeded 11th overall. Her time of 4:27.94 has her just two seconds off the fourth seed. Christie also ran in the 2012 Indoor Championships earlier this year.
Orvold, who broke the school record in the 10000m run last weekend, is seeded 15th overall in that event. His qualifying time is 29:47.89. He also competed in the Indoor Championships in Mankato, Minn.
Orvold will open the action for the Rangers when he takes to the track Thursday night, May 24, at 9:50 p.m. The ladies will run the 1500m run on Saturday, May 26, at 6:35 p.m.
Watychowicz will wrap things up in the 5000m run later that night at 9:05 p.m.
