NEW ORLEANS –
Jesus Escareno and
Ben Orvold have both been named All-Region honorees for outdoor track & Field by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Escareno earned his spot in the 3000m Steeplechase while Orvold had one of the top 10000m run times.
Escareno, who was a first team All-GLVC honoree, ran a personal-best 9:04.32 at the Dr. Keeler Invitational in Naperville, Illinois last weekend. He was a little under three seconds away from the school record with that performance.
Orvold established a school record in the 10000m run at the same meet last weekend. His time of 29:47.6 was almost 14 seconds better than the previous mark. That time also helped Orvold qualify for the 2012 Outdoor Track & Field Championships next weekend in Pueblo, Colo.
