ALLENDALE, Mich. (Nov. 30, 2012)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's track & field squad kicked off the rust on Friday afternoon, getting a jump on the indoor season at the Laker Early Bird Open on the oversized track at Grand Valley State University's Kelly Family Sports Center.
In the sprints,
Justin Armstrong turned in a fourth place finish in the 400-meter dash, crossing the tape in 50.57 seconds. The Rangers' closed the meet with a strong showing in the 4x400-meter relay with
Brendan Bailey,
Dylan Rivard, Jeremy Robinson and
Ross Denman collaborating to produce a sixth place finish in 3:24.78.
Dylan Rivard and
Sean Wagner placed back-to-back in the 1,000-meter run. Rivard clocked a 2:34.17 to secure fifth place while Wagner was just under a half-second back, finishing in sixth (2:34.66).
In the mile,
Jimmy Mikkelson placed sixth in 4:33.24 while
Will Cranford placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (8.36).
The Rangers shut down for the entire month of December, returning to competition on Jan. 12 at the Private College Invitational hosted at nearby Carthage College.
