Men's Basketball Sixth in GLVC Preseason Poll

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Oct. 24, 2012)-- The Great Lakes Valley Conference released its annual men's basketball coaches' poll on Wednesday with the University of Wisconsin-Parkside predicted to place sixth in the East Division.

The Rangers garnered 41 points in the voting, tying with Saint Joseph's College for the sixth spot in the East. Defending divisional champion Bellarmine University sits atop the poll with 114 points and 10 of the 16 first place nods. The 2012 GLVC Tournament Champion University of Southern Indiana is No. 2 with 104 points and five first place votes while Kentucky Wesleyan College is third with 89 points and the remaining first place vote. The University of Indianapolis is fourth (88 points), Lewis University is fifth (65) and McKendree University is eighth (26 points).

The University of Missouri-Saint Louis, defending division champions, is the top pick in the West Division with 113 points and eight first place votes. Drury University is picked to finish second with 110 points and seven first place nods while Quincy University garnered the remaining top vote and 89 points for third in the West.

Voting was conducted by the league's 16 head coaches, ranking the top-eight in each of the GLVC's two divisions.

The Rangers return three starters and eight letterwinners from the 2011-2012 squad that finished 8-18 overall and 1-17 in GLVC action in head coach Luke Reigel's ninth year at the helm.

UW-Parkside takes on Bradley University in Saturday, Nov. 3, in an exhibition game in Peoria, Ill. before opening up the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 11 against the University of Minnesota-Duluth at 3 p.m.
