Rangers Cruise to Victory over Northland

Rangers Early Offense Leads to a 93-49 Win
Box Score The UW-Parkside men's basketball team erupted offensively in a convincing 93-49 victory over Northland International University Tuesday night in DeSimone Gymnasium. The Rangers improved to 5-3 on the season while the Pioneers dropped to 6-6.

From the get-go the Rangers seized control and set the tempo. Steve Jaskulske drained a retro style hook shot for the first points of the night as Parkside never looked back while cruising to a victory.

Jordan Mach led the surge as he quickly collected nine points while sinking three three-pointers as the Spirit Week crowd emphatically applauded. After Mach's surge and a 10-0 Ranger run, UWP led 17-4 at the 14:11 mark.

The 10-0 run, although impressive, finished as the second best offensive run in the first half by the Rangers. After a Northland basket the Rangers responded with 18 straight points.

Parkside forced nine turnovers during their 18-0 run which shutdown the Northland offense from scoring any points over a span of 9:27.

The Rangers continued to dominate in every facet of the game and finished the half outscoring the Pioneers 15-9.
Northland's inability to control the ball resulted in 17 first half turnovers resulting in 28 Ranger points.

UWP carried their momentum from the first half into the second half. The lead reached as much as 47 during the second half.

Northland finished the game with 24 turnovers in comparison to UWP's 16.

Eleven Rangers tallied points during the contest. Mach led the way with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists. Ziggy Riauka also poured in 12 points and Javar Lawson finished with 10 points and a team-leading seven rebounds.

On the night Parkside shot 32-of-63 (50.8%) from the field and 7-of-20 from behind-the-arc. Northland International shot 18-of-58 (31%) from the field and 4-of-19 from behind-the-arc.

After this win the Rangers will take a hiatus from competition in preparation for first semester finals and the holidays. The men's basketball team will play again at 7:30 PM on Thursday, December 29th at DeSimone Gymnasium against Wayne State University (MI).
