Coach Reigel has the Rangers playing well heading into GLVC competition
Box Score

The UW-Parkside men's basketball team took care of business in its final non-conference game as they dispatched Trinity Christian College, 91-53. The Rangers will take a 7-3 record into Great Lakes Valley Conference play. They finish the non-conference slate at 7-1 matching the 2007-08 squad for the program's best non-league record since joining the GLVC. Trinity Christian is 6-10 on the year.

Steve Jaskulske led four Parkside players in double figures with 12 points. Conrad Krutwig, Jeremy Saffold, and Jordan Mach all had 10. Kevin Senechalle had a team-high six boards.

All 14 Rangers scored on the night with no one playing more than 20 minutes. They claimed the battle of the benches, 45-17 in the scoring column.

Trinity got out to an early 10-6 lead before the Rangers seized control. They embarked on a 13-0 run capped by a dunk by Ziggy Riauka after a steal and leaping save by Colt Grandstaff. Following a lay-up by the Trolls, the Rangers scored the next nine points finishing with a Leneal Harris driving lay-up.

In all, Parkside scored 44 of the last 58 points in the period as they took a 50-24 lead to the break. They shot 59.4% from the floor despite going just 1-for-7 from the three-point line in the first 20 minutes.

The rout continued early in the second half as Parkside scored 17 of the first 21 points to widen the margin. The highlight of the run was Riauka's alley-oop pass to Senachalle who hammered it home for a 64-28 lead.

Parkside outscored the Trolls in the paint 48-24 and scored 24 points off of 18 Trinity turnovers. The Rangers also held a big advantage on the boards at 41-26 and converted 11 offensive rebounds into 22 second change points.

The Rangers will now turn their attention to league play as they'll have four straight against the conference's western division. That run begins next Thursday when they head to Missouri to take on the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Mark Twain Building. You can hear that game locally on 1400 AM WRJN or online at www.gatewaysportsweb.org.
