UW-Parkside women dominate Bellarmine

Box Score

The UW-Parkside women's basketball team took visiting Bellarmine box-to-wire in the DeSimone Gymnasium Tuesday night. The team handed the Knights an 87-59 setback to move their overall record to 10-2 and a perfect 4-0 to head the North Division of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Bellarmine fell to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in league play.

The Rangers took it to the Knights early and never looked back. The team seized an 11-2 lead before the game was 3 minutes old. Bellarmine last saw a single digit deficit at the 12-minute mark of the first half.

UW-Parkside led, 48-31, at halftime, and built its lead to as many as 28 at one juncture in a dominating outing.

The Rangers held Lauren Jones, the league's leading scorer, well under her lofty scoring average. Jones, who came into the clash averaging 20.7 points per game, was limited to just two points in each half. She never had a good look, as evidenced by her 1-11 shooting from the floor.

On the offensive side for the Rangers, Jadee Rooney knocked down her first seven shots from the floor in a 24-point effort. She ended at 8-9 from the floor including a 4-5 mark from behind the arc.

Brittany Beyer added 17 points to the victorious effort and Jaleesa Trussell came off the bench to tally 13.

The Rangers shot 55 percent from the floor and owned the boards with a 41-21 rebounding advantage.

UW-Parkside looks to extend its four-game winning streak when it hosts Saint Joseph's College in its next game Thursday, Jan. 6, at 5:30 p.m.
