Several former UW-Parkside golfers made an impact at the 90th annual Wisconsin State Open held recently at The Legend at Bristlecone in Hartland.
Recent graduates, who played for current coach Mark Olsen and participated in the state tournament include Andy Hansen, Corey Sell and Bob Tierney. Hansen, who recently turned professional, tied for fourth with a 280 total score for four rounds.
Todd Schaap, a 1991 graduate, finished ninth. He played the final three holes at an even-par 140. Schaap, who played for former UW-Parkside coach Steve Stephens, was the second low amateur.
Sell finished in 22nd place at 289. He tied for low honors with a 67 in the third round.
"This is evidence of the strength of the Parkside golf program over the years," said Olsen. "Our people did well in the premier golf event in the state of Wisconsin."
Tierney, although he shot a two-round score of 161 on the initial day, missed the cut.
