Each team came away with a victory in a baseball doubleheader at Oberbruner Field Saturday afternoon. Homestanding UW-Parkside won the initial game, 7-5. Visiting Bellarmine came away with the second game, 10-3.
Parkside posted its win as
Jon Kleinmeyer came on in relief to record the victory. He worked an inning-and-a-third and did not give up a run or a hit. Starter
Jack Olson did well for the initial seven-and-two-thirds innings. He gave his team a chance by holding the Knights to five runs.
Dave Watson and John Hasser hit their fourth and third home runs of the season respectively for the winners.
Kirk Haviland had three hits in the 11-hit attack.
Parkside matched Bellarmine by scoring three runs in the eighth inning. Watson's two-run homer to right put the Rangers up for good.
Chris Wolcott absorbed the loss in Game 2. Six of the nine runs in his three innings were earned.
Joel Bergmann did not give up an earned run in three innings and
Jacob Chandler tossed a clean inning.
Taylor Nehls jacked a home run to left-center in the third inning.
The win in the opener gave the Parkside its 13th of the season, which equals the number of wins in the last two seasons combined.
The Rangers will close the 2010 season with another doubleheader with the Knights on Sunday, starting at noon.
The racing sausages will be in the house armed with Milwaukee Brewers tickets.
