Game 1 Game 2
The UW-Parkside baseball team took on the only NCAA Division I opponent on its schedule this season at Hank Aaron Field in Milwaukee Tuesday afternoon. Homestanding UW-Milwaukee took both halves of a doubleheader against the Rangers, 6-2 and 10-4. The twin Panther wins narrows Parkside's lead in the all-time series between the two programs to 12-10.
In the opener,
Josh Hudnut, who was coming off a stellar performance his last time out, gave up just two earned runs in six innings. Four unearned runs spelled defeat.
Milwaukee scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and was never headed.
Dave Lojeski singled in a run and Jon Hasser came up with a sacrifice fly to score the Ranger runs in the top of the fourth.
In Game Two, the Rangers plated a pair in the top of the fourth.
Taylor Nehls and
Dave Watson ignited the uprising with singles. Lojeski walked to load the bases with nobody out. After a pop up and a strike out,
Kirk Haviland came through with a single to left, scoring two.
Hasser hit into a fielder's choice to score a run in the seventh.
Paul Pulera singled to chase the Rangers' final run.
Dustin Kollman was touched for three earned runs in two innings on the mound in taking the loss.
Jon Kleinmeyer, who picked up a win in relief against Lewis on Sunday, continued to impress out of the bullpen, with a scoreless rack.
The Rangers will host Missouri-St. Louis in doubleheaders Friday and Saturday, April 2-3, at Oberbruner Field. Action begins each day at noon.
