The UW-Parkside men's track team put together a good set of racing performances at Friday evening's UW-Whitewater "Squib Converse Invitational."

Leading the way was a second place finish in the distance medley relay.  The team of LaQuan Fenderson, Alex Linck, Alex Mena, and Ben Orvold ran a time of 10:41.42.  That was the fastest time the program has turned in over the past four seasons.

The 3000m run was another event that earned scoring finishes with Rehan Mahmood (fourth place, 8:57.23) and Dustin Baldwin (eighth place, 8:59.70) racing well and competing to the end in a tightly contested race.

Matt Vidas turned in the only career best mark of the meet for the men with a 20-second improvement over 5000m, where he clocked a time of 16:18.30.

Coach Mike De Witt commented on the men's team performance at the Whitewater meet:  "Overall we raced well. The men were competitive in their sections.  There is still the next level of intensity that is missing from the group as a whole on a consistent basis.  We are looking to be able to race to the front of field with that extra edge that is needed at the end of a race.  The men are doing an exceptional job in workouts. They aren't overworking, in my opinion.  We are looking for the transfer of week day workouts to racing on the weekends.  We are still a young team with no seniors on the roster, we only have two juniors on the indoor roster, so I am hopeful the experience factor will take over soon."
