The Ranger women's basketball team has won a championship. The team cut down the nets in the DeSimone Gymnasium after a resounding 90-44 win over Illinois-Springfield Saturday, giving the Rangers the North Division championship of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

UW-Parkside will now serve as host for the first two rounds of the GLVC tournament. A game not involving Parkside will be held in the DeSimone Gymnasium Saturday, Feb. 27, at 1:00 p.m. The Rangers will play the winner the following afternoon, also at 1:00 p.m. The league's Final Four will be held in Springfield, Illinois, the following weekend.

Parkside set a school record for wins with its 21st victory of the season. The team ends regular season play with a 21-6 overall mark and a 13-5 record in the GLVC.

Brittany Beyer led four Rangers in double figures with 19 points.

It was the final regular season home game for seniors Amanda Gibson, Jen Moran and Erin Pfieffer.
