Box Score
The UW-Parkside women's basketball team tied a program record by winning its 20th game of the season Thursday night, equaling the win total of the 2004-05 club. The Rangers put away the Pumas of Saint Joseph's College, 67-53, in the DeSimone Gymnasium.
The Rangers have now won 15 consecutive games against the Pumas and trail the all-time series by only one at 20-19. Parkside is 20-6 on the season and 12-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. A win at home in its final game against Illinois-Springfield Saturday at 1:00 p.m. will clinch the North Division championship. That would mean the Rangers would get a first round bye in the league tournament and would host a second round game Sunday, Feb. 28, at 1:00 p.m.
Parkside led from box-to-wire Thursday night and held an 18-point margin at its greatest gap with 14:27 to go in the game.
The Rangers were a force under the hoop, scoring at will inside and out-rebounding their feline foes, 42-20. Parkside shot 52 percent while limiting the Pumas to 32 percent shooting from the floor.
Brittany Hogen logged another double-double. This time the junior center poured in 22 points to go with 11 rebounds. She added a pair of assists, a steal and a blocked shot to her impressive stat line.
Brittany Beyer added 16 points to the winning effort.
The Pumas cut the deficit down to 53-46 with 8:18 to go, thanks to an 8-0 run. From there, the Rangers pulled away.
Saint Joseph's fell to 8-19 overall and 6-12 in league play.
