Brittany Hogen logged a double-double

Box Score

If the UW-Parkside women's basketball team plans on winning the North Division of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, it was crucial to keep Quincy well in their rear-view mirror. That happened at the DeSimone Gymnasium Monday night as the Rangers handled the nation's No. 22-ranked team, 85-77.

Quincy's only lead was by a bucket and that was to start the game. The Rangers held a 43-37 lead at halftime and never gave up the advantage.

Parkside went up 10, 57-47, 3 minutes into the second half. The Hawks pulled within one at 65-64 with 6:30 to go to set up a finish. Parkside pulled away again and led 80-70 with 2:40 to go on back-to-back baskets by Brittany Hogen underneath.

Quincy's Whitnae Irby kept her team in the game with a three-pointer with 1:02 to go which made the score 81-76. The Hawks could have pulled within three after a made three-pointer with 47 ticks left, but the tally was wiped away by an offensive foul which expelled Sam Poppe from the contest.

From there, the Rangers made free throws and scored the victory to improve to 15-3 overall and 7-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Quincy is 12-4 overall, but is below .500 in the league at 3-4.

Hogen scored 26 points to lead the Ranger effort. She pulled down 12 rebounds to secure a double-double.

Jadee Rooney notched 16 points on the strength of four three-point shots. Amy Selk came off the bench to put 10 points in the scorebook.

Amada Gibson had 14 points and six assists.

The Rangers shot 56 percent from the floor while holding the Hawks to 36 percent.
