Langer, Kelly in the Ranger fold

Two outstanding high school players, Caroline Langer and Rebecca Kelly, have signed national letters of intent to play volleyball for UW-Parkside beginning in August.

Langer, a 5'10 outside hitter, from Milwaukee Pius XI High School, started for the Lady Popes since she was a freshman and has helped them to four consecutive State tournament appearances.  At Pius XI, Langer amassed over 1,500 kills and 1,200 digs as well as being named all-conference for four seasons. She was all-area and all-state for two seasons. This past season, Langer was selected as the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Player of the Year and was named to the 2008 All-American team by PrepVolleyball.com.

“I am extremely excited to have Caroline be a part of our program," said UW-Parkside coach Rob Wolter. "She came from a high school and club program that has excellent volleyball tradition and Caroline is a great all-around player with a high volleyball IQ. Caroline has the necessary tools to become an outstanding player at UW-Parkside.”

Kelly is a 6'0 middle hitter and 2-year starter for Kenosha Tremper High School.

"Kelly will bring depth to our middle hitting position and will help raise our level of play," Wolter said. “She is a great athlete who brings all the intangibles to the middle hitter positions.”

Kelly is coming off a high school season which saw Tremper win its first state title. She was voted first team all-conference and first team all-county. At Tremper, she currently holds the single season kill and block record with 418 and 130 respectively. She also plays club volleyball for Wisconsin Juniors VBC with future Ranger Abby Beilke.

“Kelly is a very talented offensive player who has the ability to play multiple positions,” said Wolter. “She is quick and jumps well and this will fit in perfectly with the offense that we want to run.”
