Thanks to the persistence of head coach Laura 'Flip' Fillipp, the Rangers DO have an opponent for Parkside Pink Day Thursday, April 23. The Rangers were originally slated to host St. Francis in a doubleheader; however, the Saints needed to pull out due to a conference conflict. Mid-Wednesday afternoon, coach Fillipp secured Wisconsin Lutheran as an opponent. One game will be played, starting at 4 p.m.
The UW-Parkside softball team is raising money and awareness for breast cancer by having this "Pink Game." Events such as these are catching on with women's collegiate athletic teams all over the country. Teams involved usually wear an all-pink uniform or have a portion of their apparel pink.
A contest will be held to test your softball throwing skills. For a donation of $2, fans will get four throws. If that fan is wearing pink, the donation asked is only $1. Prizes and raffles will also be a part of Parkside Pink Day.
All proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
