No trouble with Tritons

The Ranger women's basketball team continues to impress. The team had a balanced attack in an 89-65 win over visiting Missouri-St. Louis in the DeSimone Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

The win upped UW-Parkside's record to 6-1 overall and a perfect 2-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Tritons fell to 1-6 overall and 0-2 in league play.

The Tritons led, 15-10, early in the contest. The Rangers then went on 10-0 run which was part of a larger 27-8 run.

The lead was extended to 44-30 at halftime and steadily grew during the second set of 20 minutes.

Five Rangers scored in double figures led by 21 points from Jadee Rooney. Amanda Gibson is one point shy of moving into ninth place on the all-time UW-Parkside scoring list with her 18 points.

Brittany Beyer tallied 16 points and was joined in double figures by Kristen Ruchti with 11 points and Brittany Hogen with 10.

The Rangers shot 55 percent for the game and are now shooting 52 percent from the floor for the season.

Parkside won the battle underneath, out-rebounding their foes, 36-27.

Next up is a home weekend non-conference set. Robert Morris visits the DeSimone Gymnasium Saturday, Dec. 12, at 1 p.m., and Cardinal Stritch will be in the house Sunday, Dec. 13, at 3 p.m.
