Visiting Saginaw Valley State was no match for the UW-Parkside women's basketball team in the DeSimone Gymnasium Monday evening. The Cardinals were coming off of a win at Lewis, but bowed to the Rangers, 79-60.
Saginaw Valley State led by three points in the first half-minute of the game, but the Rangers changed the trend early and led by double digits from mid-first half on. The team led 43-30 at halftime and cruised to victory.
The win bumped the Ranger record to 4-1. Saginaw Valley State leveled their record at 2-2.
Four players dented double digits for the Rangers led by
Jadee Rooney with 18 points. She was 7-10 from the floor including a 4-4 effort from behind the arc.
Brittany Hogen was 7-11 from the floor and tallied 15 points to go with her game-high eight rebounds.
Amanda Gibson added a dozen points.
Amy Selk chipped in 10.
The Rangers shot 56 percent for the game, while holding their guests to just 36 percent. UWP won the battle of the boards, 35-31.

Parkside will open Great Lakes Valley Conference play Thursday, Dec. 3. Rockhurst will visit the DeSimone Gymnasium for a 5;30 p.m. game.
