Two UW-Parkside women’s soccer players were honored with Daktronics all-Midwest Region awards. Senior Meredith Novak (Batavia, Ill/Batavia) earned a spot on the first team as a midfielder; and sophomore Shannon Becker (DePere, Wis./DePere) was selected as a second team forward.
The all region awards, sponsored by Daktronics, is voted upon by the Sports Information Directors in the midwest region.
Jenna Boyko, a forward from Quincy University was tabbed the Midwest Region Player of the year. Grand Valley State was the school with the highest representation with five players on the first team and four more on the second team.
Novak led the Rangers in assists with 12. She found the back of the net eight times which includes a game-winning goal.
Becker paced Parkside in total points with 29 on the strength of nine goals and 11 assists. She notched two game-winning goals.
Both were instrumental in another solid season for the Rangers. The team posted an overall record of 11-4-3.
Novak, as a first team member, will be on the All-America ballot which will be voted on by Division II SIDs throughout the country. The All-America teams will be announced Wednesday, Dec. 2.
