Junior, Jennie Kindt led a Top 5 group that included 3 freshmen to a 4th place finish at Saturday's GLVC Meet in Louisville.
Kindt moved into the Top 30 during the 3rd km of the race and continued a steady drive to a 20th place finish. Her time of 23:50 was her best ever over 6000m. She was followed by freshman Brittany Frederick who placed 26th in a time of 24:01. Freshman, Jessica Watychowicz (31st, 24:18) and Junior Whitney Olson (33rd, 24:20) along with freshman Brittany Loza (40th, 24:33) rounded out the Top 5 scoring roster.
Junior Jessica Enderby (41st, 24:36) and freshman Danielle Dietz (44th, 24:47) completed the UWP Team.
The Runnin' Rangers scored 141 points for their 4th place finish. Southern Indiana won the event with 24 points. Bellarmine (75 points) and Northern Kentucky (83 points) placed ahead of the team. The overall winner of the race was Southern Indiana's Mary Ballinger with a time of 21:46.
Coach Mike De Witt commented: "The team did a good job in placing 4th. We were projected as the 6th place team going into the meet. We had great races from Jennie Kindt and Brittany Frederick. They did a super job of working the race plan and getting into the Top 30 mix. Considering this was the first GLVC Meet for 4 of the seven racing it was a good learning experience and should help us continue to improve going into the Regional Meet at home on November 7th."
