Three UW-Parkside softball players earned all-conference honors as voted on by the coaches of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Outfielder
Amanda Miller and pitcher
Meagan Shimkus earned second team honors, while first baseman
Lisa Casey picked up a third team award.
Miller led the league in hitting with a .434 batting average. She also paced the circuit in doubles with 20 and was fourth in the league in on-base percentage at .459. She knocked two out of the park and legged out a pair of triples.
Shimkus posted a 17-10 record on the pitching rubber with a 2.35 earned run average. She struck out 240 batters in 205 innings. Opponents had a .218 batting average against her. Shimkus tossed seven shutouts this season.
Casey hit for a .314 clip in 2008. She started all 50 games and drove in 25 runs. Casey scored 25 runs and had seven doubles to her credit.
