Box Score

Only one game was played at a raw Oberbruner Field Saturday afternoon, and that did not commence until an hour and 38 minute rain delay was put in the box score. Visiting Kentucky Wesleyan defeated the Rangers, 12-6. The second game was called off due to rain.

The Panthers pounced on the Rangers for seven runs in the first two innings. The team extended its advantage to 10-0, before the home team made a late charge. UW-Parkside scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to make things interesting. The Rangers loaded the bases in the final frame, but left all three stranded.

Starting pitcher Travis Klostermann settled down after the early onslaught and made it through five innings. He gave up nine earned runs on 10 hits. Alex Triantafillo gave up a pair of runs in four innings. Both Ranger pitchers had the strikeout pitch working. Klostermann fanned six and Triantafillo, five.

The Panthers out-hit the Rangers, 12-9. John Hasser and Mike Pena had a pair of hits each for Parkside.

Kentucky Wesleyan is now 17-35 overall and 7-22 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Rangers are 6-35 overall and 1-27 in league play.

The 2008 season will draw to a close for the Rangers Sunday afternoon. The team will play a doubleheader with the Panthers at Oberbruner Field, beginning at noon.
